at stardust. i was the lead 3d animator for the 15 sec spot, dan was the compositor. we didn’t have a lot of time to finish off the spot so it got pretty hectic towards the end. sam sparks and kimberly im did the 30 sec spot, with sang compositing. since most of the elements for the 30 sec were already in place, the team for the 15 sec thought it would be a piece of cake. we originally intended to animated once and reuse it for the 15 sec but it didn’t work out. i reanimate the camera; the push in and pull out is totally different. never underestimate a job!
at stardust. drumroll please….blackberry storm is finished! started working on this job around the end of september 2008, moved to another job, and came back to the storm in the middle of march 2009. i was the technical director on set with joseph khan directing. back at the studio, jake was our creative director and tito, joseph, and i animated the first phase with chris eckardt lighting and texturing. we though the spot was going to air before christmas 2008, but was cancelled 2 days before our deadline. phase 2 started in 2009 with joseph and me reanimating and rerendering elements, as most of our original animation ended up on the cutting room floor. chris and dan were brought on to finish off the compositing. i did alot of animating, lighting, and compositing…the model at the end of the spot is the best part.
at stardust. this black and white spot was done with the talented sirs jonathon, chris, robin, james, brad, among many others. chris did an amazing job lighting black cars on black backgrounds. i worked on lighting, rendering, animating, and compositing.
at stardust. joseph kahn directed the spot and on the team was john “tito” nguyen, robin “ze german” roepstorff, chris “the teacher” eckardt, and jonathon “new blood” wu…and a flame artist for the transitions whos name i can only remember as “wolf”. sorry!
i worked on animation, compositing, and a lot of rendering.
This 60 seconds NYSE spot was done at Stardust. This piece was a team effort. Brian B, Chris E., Robin R., Sam S., Kinda A., Forbes, Joseph, and myself all worked on the 60-second animation. I animated, textured, rendered, and composited mostly the options section of the spot.
This Bounce commercial was done at Stardust. Clint, Neil, myself, and some other animators worked on this 3d plus live action spot. I worked mostly on the bounce box and the end shot. Mostly done in Maya and composited by Neil in after effects.
The Kraft spot I worked on at Stardust was fun. However, the music was very annoying after hearing it for too long. Other than that, I enjoyed animating and compositing for the commercial. Brad was the creative director on the spot.
Macy’s was a spot I worked on with Chris E., Brian B., Mike B.,and Brad T.. Brad was the creative director and the rest of the guys did animating and compositing. I remember tracking and reanimating a lot because of the retiming of the spot. Chris and brian already had a look of the spot. I came in mid way through the production and picked up some shots.
Amy K. wanted me to help out on this crazy project. Getting tossed in the middle of a project is no fun. I sucked it up and helped as much as I could. Brian, Chris, Neil, and other guys did a great job. I came in and helped out some animation and rendering. The 3d modified scion was done at a post house but all other animations were done at Stardust. Maya and max were used on the project.
This Honda project was done at Stardust. I remember we didn’t have a lot of time to work on the spot but we found some way to get through it. The cars were shot and the reflections and environments were all cg. There was a lot of cut and pasting. It was my first time working with Chris Saunders. Robin, Sam, and Vinh also worked on the spot. Elieen was just an intern at the time, but she did some amazing roto work.
This NYSE was the first of many animations to come. I worked with Robin, Sam, and Joseph on the commercial. This project was so long ago; we were using 32 bit machines. I remember we couldn’t even get some of the sections to render. We ended up breaking the scenes to smaller ones so it could render.
